Skin Cancer Screening, Mole & Skin Lesion Checks

Skin cancer screening with expert clinical assessment

Early detection saves lives. If you’ve noticed a new mole, skin lesion, or a change in an existing one, it’s important to get it assessed by a trained medical professional. Dr Syreeta Daw offers comprehensive mole checks, skin lesion assessments, and dermoscopy to help identify signs of skin cancer and other skin conditions early — when they are most treatable.

All consultations are performed in a clinical setting with a calm, patient-centred approach and use medical grade dermoscopy to support accurate diagnosis.

What Is Dermoscopy?

Dermoscopy is a non-invasive technique using a handheld device called a dermatoscope. It allows visualisation of pigment, blood vessels, and structures under the skin's surface that aren’t visible to the naked eye. This improves the ability to identify early skin cancers such as melanoma, basal cell carcinoma (BCC), and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), as well as benign lesions like seborrhoeic keratoses and dermatofibromas.

When to Get a Mole or Skin Lesion Checked

Anything on your skin which you are concerned about, is new, stands out or is changing

new or changing mole

A mole or lesion that is itchy, bleeding, crusting or painful

Asymmetry, irregular borders, or multiple colours

Rapid growth in size

A persistent non-healing lesion or scaly patch

A history of sun exposure, sunbeds, or skin cancer in yourself or a close relative

You should seek a professional skin check if you notice:

You do not need a referral to book a private mole check.

Minor Skin Surgery & Biopsy

If a lesion needs further investigation or removal, Dr Daw may advise:

Shave, punch, or excision biopsy (if clinically indicated)

Referral for NHS or private surgical excision if suspicious or complex

Removal of benign lesions (e.g. skin tags, cysts, non-suspicious moles) for comfort/cosmetic reasons

Peace of Mind Starts with a Skin Check

Even if you’re unsure whether a lesion is concerning, having it checked by an experienced clinician can provide reassurance and guidance.

Dr Daw welcomes self-referring patients and will ensure that any findings are clearly explained and managed appropriately.
