Your questions answered by a professional

  • No referral is needed. You can book directly with Dr Daw for a private dermatology consultation. If you have relevant letters, test results, or medical history, feel free to bring these to your appointment — though they are not required.

  • Dr Daw welcomes self-paying patients, and some private insurance policies may cover consultations with GPs who have extended roles in dermatology.
Please note that not all insurers offer reimbursement unless the clinician is a consultant dermatologist. We recommend checking with your provider in advance. A detailed medical letter and receipt can be provided to support any claims.

  • A GPwER in dermatology is a General Practitioner who has undertaken specialist training and accreditation to assess, diagnose, and treat skin conditions beyond the scope of routine general practice. Dr Daw is a nationally accredited GPwER in Dermatology and Skin Surgery with over 10 years’ experience working in community and hospital dermatology service. She has a Master’s degree in Clinical Dermatology, is a tutor on the dermatology post graduate diploma course for Cardiff University and has an active role in national dermatology education via the Primary Care Dermatology Society (PCDS).

  • Dr Daw does not provide NHS dermatology services directly but can support onward NHS referral after your private consultation, if needed.

Following your appointment, Dr Daw can write a detailed medical letter to your NHS GP outlining the consultation findings and recommending urgent or routine referral to an NHS dermatology service. This can help reduce delays by providing your GP with the necessary clinical information to expedite the referral process where appropriate.

Please note that your NHS GP will still need to formally submit the referral through NHS channels, but having a specialist assessment and written recommendation may support more timely access to care.
